Bethesda Art Walk = Disaster

Last night, we decided to get a little more cultured and experience some local artists' work at the Bethesda Art Walk. For those of you who are unfamiliar, this event is scheduled to happen on the second Friday of every month from 6PM to 9PM, throughout downtown Bethesda.

It was a beautiful night, so we did enjoy walking around, but that's where the fun stops. We arrived at the first location, Orchard Gallery, which featured a talented young artist and a decent spread of sushi and red wine. So we were encouraged - this had potential to turn in to a fun night. Man, we could not have been more wrong!

The second stop of the evening was a framing shop, in the back of an alley, where the owner informed us that the merchants had been told that Art Walk was canceled this month. Ummm... aren't you supposed to share that kind of information publicly. This event was featured in the Washingtonian, for God's sake.

We figured maybe he was wrong and moved on to the next location. See photo - I don't think this place has been open in quite some time... Geeze..

About to give up, we said we'd stop at the locations that were on the way to the car, which was our third mistake of the night. One was a scary closet in the attic of a building where a strange foreign woman hoovered around us. And the last thought this is what providing refreshments meant.

Lesson learned, we went home to watch the Olympics. Good job on this one Bethesda...
