On Sunday we decided to cheat big time on our diets.... and have Mexican food!!
We headed to Mi Rancho in downtown Silver Spring and man was it a treat. The atmosphere on the deck is so relaxing and you get to watch all the people/cars going by. Good outdoor seating is pretty rare around here, so this way exceeded my expectations. The crowd was pretty thin, being late on a Sunday, but I hear this place is very popular at the right time of the evening.
First off
, the strawberry margarita was awesome (even though they forgot the salt). And the chips and salsa were just right - not too salty or spicy... I had enchiladas for my main course - one cheese and one chicken. Both were exactly what I was looking for, with a nice red sauce, oozing with yummy cheese. The husband had a sampler which he seemed to enjoy as well.
We really wanted traditional, bad for you Mexican, but the menu was expansive. We'll definitely be back to try out the grilled fish dishes and probably the filet mignon!

Yeah...Mi Rancho has good food. We often go there for office luncheons. My personal favorite is "camarones al espeton" (bacon-wrapped shrimp)...good stuff.
Cubanos (across the street) is ok too...for better (in my opinion) cuban food, check out "Cuba de Ayer" in Burtonsville. Its a lil bit further up Rt. 29. Their ropa vieja is to die for...and their prices are cheaper than Cubanos.
Thanks for the tips! We wanted to try Cubanos, but maybe we'll bump your suggestion up on the list instead.
