This was a TOTAL yuppy Saturday....
I've mentioned before that my husband is building a vegetable garden. Today was focused on populating said garden with fall vegetables. Our goal for the day was to find a nursery that had "fall veggies" in stock. We found it - American Plant!
Since the store is in Chevy Chase, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to squeeze in a little designer shopping. The DC Scout let me know that Saks is sponsoring a consolidation sale, so we hit that up. Not great, but the shoe section was pretty good. That is, if I could afford $600 shoes that are marked down to $300.
After meandering around the stores in the area, we drove over to American Plant where we purchased cabbage, kale, cauliflower, lettuce and numerous seed packets. They were very helpful and accommodating to our lack of knowledge (side note - we did plant all of these things and will update on progress in approximately 50 days).
And thank goodness for small miracles - there was time to go to Magruders! $100 later we had the wine to support our in home drinking for at least two weeks and produce for the week. This place is the best market in the city. We'll be back every weekend.
All in all, the perfect "almost 30" Saturday in DC. All of our activities were perfectly suited to the demographic.
