Silver Spring Bar Crawl

After our yuppy day on Saturday, we decided on a low key local night focused on finding bars with cheap beer, showing the Redskins pre-season game. Little did we know, we had signed ourselves up for a Silver Spring bar crawl.

We started at Eggspectations, where happy hour is from 4PM - 8PM EVERY DAY of THE WEEK! Half price beer and house wine, plus half price appetizers. You really can't go wrong, especially when it's the start of your evening. Next stop, McGinty's Public House. This place is usually fairly crowded on a Saturday night. Not sure what happened this week, but it was dead, so we asked our bartender for recommendations on where to go. He suggested "the pirate bar" and Quarry House.

We skipped the Pirate Bar (although it sounds like a promising way to spend another local evening), and headed to Quarry House. I've since read many reviews, where people frequently comment that this place "isn't what it used to be", but we had a GREAT time! Great beer selection (a good local replacement for the Brickskellar), amusing staff and a very friendly crowd. Add to that yummy burgers and wings (which I stuffed my face with).

I'm sure we'll recreate this night sometime soon and recommend it to all "young & married" folks living near Silver Spring.

Don't forget the amazing spirit collection, especially bourbons. Haven't seen anything like that outside of NY and San Fran. Prices way better though!
