We wanted to venture a little further away from our comfort zone in Silver Spring this weekend, and one of us was craving sushi, so we met up in Chevy Chase for a little shopping and eating.
Yosaku received good reviews on Yelp, and it sounded like they offered a good happy hour, so that was the first stop of the evening. We were early for dinner, got there around 5:15, and we were the only people in the restaurant. It turns out that they don't offer the amazing happy hour deals that are discussed on message boards anymore... yet another sign of the impact the economy has had on local businesses. There are a few rolls for $3, but it's a very limited offering. And there are no drink specials.
A little disappointed, we still ordered a few rolls and drinks. The sushi was very good, extremely fresh and flavorful. We had a salmon and avacado roll, two different tuna rolls and a few other things. The salmon was probably the freshest of the fish, but we douldn't complain about any of it. And the staff tried not too hover, a challenging task since we remained the only customers throughout our entire meal.
I'm not sure we'll be back, but I'd say give it a try if you're in the area and are looking for some authentic Japanese food.
